Customer Reviews about Tri County Animal Clinic

I would love to leave a positive review, but from recent events, I simply cannot. My family has seen Dr. Lott with our pets for YEARS. I've traveled from Nashville, and now Richmond, to bring my fur babies home to Tri-County for things as simple as yearly check ups and heart-worm tests to those as serious as pancreatitis. I have grown from coming in with my mom and dad for our family pets to moving away and bringing back my own. As recently as April, we've come home for yearly check ups (for Franklin,) and per a recommendation from someone at the front desk, we began Heartguard preventatives with both our boys. Also per recommendation because of price and shipping availability, we started using 1-800-PETMEDS for ordering the meds. Until this month, we've had no issue placing our orders through PETMEDS, having Tri-County authorize via faxed prescription, and receiving the Heartguard in a timely manner. For whatever reason, now the YEARLY required testing for prescription authorization suddenly isn't valid, even though Frankie was tested in APRIL. Murray, too, has been tested within the last year. I cannot stress enough that this has not been an issue until this month. Also inexplicably, now none of the boys' history of being on preventatives is there, despite MULTIPLE authorizations every few months. According to Dr. Lott, these authorizations are usually noted on files, to, as I would assume, show proof of consistent protection. As I am told, "it is a liability" to write a script for an animal that has no proven history of protection (WHICH I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND;) however, is it not, per my conversation with Dr. Lott, the staff's job to record each and every time a script has been authorized for a patient, as our prescription has been authorized every few months? Also per Dr. Lott, Tri-County doesn't recommend 1-800-PETMEDS, because all that online stuff is "a pain." When discounted pricing and the previous recommendation from his staff was brought up, I was told there was no significant price difference, which is FALSE. Something that would've cost me $22 with a coupon online would cost at least double in office. I cannot express strongly enough how trusted Dr. Lott has become for me regarding my fur babies. Being able to call home and ask questions and bring the boys in for their check ups during visits home is a large part of why I have stayed loyal to this clinic. Because of apparent lack of book keeping and conflicting information depending source, something as simple as a heartworm prescription will keep me from ever coming back. Because of this poor account of records and inconsistencies, the boys could have lapsed on the preventative, as we have been waiting for a week to receive prescription authorization to have the order confirmed. The icing on the cake is that when I received an email update from 1-800-PETMEDS yesterday telling me that Tri-County Animal Clinic said Franklin needed to be retested (even though he was tested in April) the clinic was immediately called. When the situation was explained to someone at the desk, the staff member on the phone refused to take the phone or fax number for 1-800-PETMEDS (as per the instructions from the company's email to me) because the clinic was "short-staffed" and they didn't have time to do it (as in, there was no time to do their job.) Instead, the staff member insisted I call 1-800-PETMEDS back and have them re-fax the authorization request so they could send through the prescription, which I did IMMEDIATELY. To my dismay, I received the same email from the company again today. I am so thoroughly disappointed with the lack of customer service and follow through from Tri-County. Sadly, after my poor interaction with Dr. Lott and his staff today, my boys and I will NOT be coming back.
